First Date Love Story

"We met in a cold December evening. It was Friday and the whole city was beaming with excitement over the forthcoming weekend. This was our first date.

We had arranged to have dinner together – Chinese rice with vegetables. It was very funny because he didn’t feel quite comfortable eating with the Chinese sticks but little by little he got used to them. Even though there were no candles it was the most romantic dinner I’d ever had in my life.

Online dating does work!

"...I just wanted to let your members know that online dating does work & to be patient . . . their match is out there! In June of this year, I ran into a dating site & decided "What the heck - I haven't had much luck in the REAL world!" So I half-heartedly composed a profile and then checked my messages about every other day. I received several messages from some very nice men - and went so far out of my comfort zone as to answer several of those messages & chat with a few of the men. I wasn't totally sold on the idea of online dating - was pretty sceptical, actually - so when I received an IM from a man in another state, I warily replied & ended up enjoying a nice online chat session, in spite of myself. At the end of the chat, we agreed to send email & get together to chat again soon. "Soon" ended up being the next evening, and after about a week of chatting - sometimes until the very wee hours of the morning - we decided we'd like to talk on the phone (another scary venture for me!) Of course, talking on the phone didn't seem to be enough, and after a couple of weeks of pure torture we decided he would drive to my city so we could meet face-to-face. Both of us had privately prepared ourselves to be disappointed: knowing we were absolutely crazy about each other's personalities, sense of humour, etc. was one thing, but we knew if there was no chemistry, we'd get no further in the relationship! Bundles of nerves in-hand, we met. My first thoughts when I saw him were, "Yes!" and "Wow!" The first words out of his mouth were, "You're beautiful!" And needless to say, the short visit to "get it over with" was extended & our REAL courtship began! Several thousand miles on both vehicles & a few short months later, we got married. He is a wonderful husband - everything I have ever dreamed of and so much more. Had it not been for your site, however, I would have never found him!!! With us living in different states, our chances of even passing each other on some highway somewhere were slim-to-nothing! (And he told me that, had it not been for your site, he would have never had the nerve to approach me - and how sad THAT would have been!!!) The distance between us was hard, but I think it forced us to be "real" and not put on any pretences. Of course, it also made us both prove the level of dedication & commitment . . . who else but a couple of love-sick fools would spend all of their extra time driving hundreds of miles just to spend a few short hours together, week after week? So for those members who are serious about this site - and for those who are pessimistic - hang in there. It may not be soon, so don't give up too quickly - but there IS hope! Best wishes!"
